“And then I became aware of all the magnificent silk wrapped around my body, and had the feeling I might drown in beauty.” ― Arthur Golden, Memoirs of a Geisha
It’s mid-spring and despite the fact that Cape Town can’t let go of the chill, I’ve decided to get the bloomin’ feels blossoming with this Gucci inspired look comprising of a biology text book, pastel hues and a hint of metallics. Okay who am I kidding?! Slip a yellow brick road beneath my feet and call me Dorothy. Where’s that poppy field at?! Okay okay, let’s not get sidetracked here. So. Since I’ve spent the recent season hibernating in denim and monochrome athleisure (which is comfyAF) but lbh it’s time to turn over a new sakura leaf and live my best kawaii life. Yes, I went there. I’m about that now.

Now you might be looking at said kawaii bomber and be wondering how in Gucci’s name I managed to pair it with anything vaguely day-wear-esque because it’s just. so. out. there. I mean it is, and it isn’t. I went the Gucci 101 route which suggests pairing it with loafers (baby dolls and t-bars would work too), sparkly socks and a pleated (read: sequined/ruffled/lace/tulle/
christmas trees) skirt. Alternatively you could pair it down with ripped denim, a plain tee and white sneaks (basically my new staple look).
And while you decide which you prefer, I’ll just be over here scheming my next bomber purchase because, well, I’d rather be drowning in beauty than swimming the mainstream.
